MRI Preventive Maintenance and Repair in Florida, Texas and South Georgia

A down MRI is a cancelled schedule. Preventive maintenance keeps unplanned downtime, cancelled patients and helium loss from becoming a Monday problem. AMT Imaging Solutions works for imaging centers, hospitals and practices in Florida, Texas and South Georgia. We take scheduled PM and unscheduled MRI repair calls. Call (754) 263-6089.

What MRI preventive maintenance covers

We start with the log: hours, helium, chiller temps, last fault codes. Then we work the list for that magnet.

Magnet and cryogen system

Helium level and boil-off trend, cold head and cryogen checks, with readings logged against the last visit.

Gradient, RF and shim

Gradient and RF checks, and shim as needed.

Image quality

Image quality checks, with the results written into the report.

GE and Siemens MRI systems

We work on GE and Siemens MRI systems. AMT is an independent service company, not GE or Siemens. We also service GE and Siemens CT; see CT preventive maintenance.

MRI PM schedule and checklist

Pick the PM schedule that fits your system and scan volume:

  • Every two months (bimonthly)
  • Quarterly
  • Every six months
  • Yearly

MRI PM-only pricing for GE & Siemens 1.5T/3T systems (see the full price list):

  • Single visit: $2,400
  • Annual (1 visit per year): $2,000 per year
  • Semi-annual (2 visits per year): $3,500 per year
  • Quarterly (4 visits per year): $5,800 per year
  • Bimonthly (6 visits per year): $8,100 per year

Labor is $295/hr Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, and $442.50/hr after-hours. Full service: request a quote or call (754) 263-6089.

Every PM visit follows the same steps:

  1. Review the system log and fault history.
  2. Work the checklist for that magnet.
  3. Run the image quality checks.
  4. Leave a written report for biomed.

See our full MRI PM checklist.

Unscheduled MRI repair and service calls

Call us when a system is down or throwing repeating faults, when new image artifacts show up, when helium use is climbing, or when a chiller or cold head is alarming. If helium use is climbing, don't wait for a quench.

How an MRI repair call works:

  1. Phone triage first. Give us the make and model, field strength, fault codes, symptoms and last PM date.
  2. Site visit when it's needed.
  3. A written report of what we found and fixed.

MRI repair and service calls go to the same people who do the PM: Mike Jackson in Palm Bay, FL, and AMT's field techs based in Houston, covering Houston and Texas.

Chillers, cold heads and helium

Chiller or cold-head trouble usually shows up as helium loss first. We check both on every PM and service them separately when needed. See MRI chiller and cold-head service and the warning signs your MRI chiller is failing.

Other equipment in the suite

AMT also services contrast injectors and does CT preventive maintenance for multi-modality sites.

Service area

Florida, Texas and South Georgia. Mike Jackson works out of Palm Bay, FL. AMT's field techs are based in Houston, covering Houston and Texas.

MRI maintenance FAQ

Who fixes MRI machines?

The manufacturer's own service team, a hospital's in-house biomed or imaging engineer, or an independent service company like AMT. Many sites use a mix of in-house staff and an outside engineer.

What does an MRI maintenance technician do on a PM visit?

Reviews the system log and fault history, checks helium, cryogen and the cold head, checks gradient and RF, shims as needed, runs image quality checks, and leaves a written report for biomed.

How often should an MRI get preventive maintenance?

AMT offers PM every two months, quarterly, every six months or yearly. Start with the manufacturer's recommended PM interval. Scan volume and the age of the system can change how often it needs attention. Call us and we'll talk through which schedule fits.

Do you handle MRI repair, or only scheduled maintenance?

Both. AMT takes unscheduled MRI repair calls as well as scheduled PM. Call (754) 263-6089 with the make and model, field strength, fault codes or symptoms, and last PM date.

What are the signs an MRI needs service now?

Rising helium use, chiller alarms, new image artifacts and repeating faults. Read the warning signs your MRI chiller is failing.

Is an MRI mechanic the same as an MRI service engineer?

Yes. "MRI mechanic" is a common way to say MRI field service engineer: the person who maintains and repairs the scanner on site.

Do you work in Texas and Georgia, or just Florida?

All three. Mike works out of Palm Bay, FL, and AMT's field techs are based in Houston, covering Houston and Texas. We also cover South Georgia.

Is AMT a veteran-owned business?

Yes. AMT is an SDVOSB/VOSB, certified through SBA VetCert. It also holds an active Florida VBE (Veteran Business Enterprise) certification.
